AVAILABLE NOW ON:
As a fierce, funky, and fabulous force in the world of sacred, soulful music, every word that Krishna Kaur sings glistens with wisdom, longing and a deep love for the world she has spent over 80 years inhabiting. This album is like the beautiful, aged skin of a grandmother, imprinted with the stories of her travels around the world from Europe, Scandinavia, New York, North Africa, West Africa, and back, trying to find meaning and a sense of belonging.
As a powerful Black woman who has seen the world change and grow, Krishna’s songs have lessons to share. They are a constant reminder that no matter who we are, music can bring us together and reveal we are one people on this one small planet.
Krishna Kaur evokes her roots in West African and American Soul and R&B with a light flavor of early 70’s folk. The album features traditional West African percussion along with piano, electric guitar, saxophone, and synthesizers. With backup vocals from Dejah Gomez, a former cast member of The Lion King Musical, and a backup singer to Stevie Wonder, and LarIna Williams, backup vocalist for Anderson Paak and The Pharcyde, you will find yourself intoxicated in a sea of groove and soul.
