Yoga Nidra

Yoga Nidra is a technique of yogic sleep. It is more than just guided relaxation. In Yoga Nidra, one goes past the awakened state, past the dreaming state and into the sleep state of the mind while remaining fully awake. It is important to note that there is no dreaming in this state. In a state of Yoga Nidra, you have relaxed yourself past the point of conscious dreaming.

Yoga Nidra reduces anxiety and tension and has been found to reduce the symptoms of anxiety such as chest pain, sweating, headaches and abdominal pain. It is also useful for PSTD. Practitioners lie in Savasana (Corpse Pose) and are consciously relax every part of their body individually. Pranayama and visualization are used to bring to a particular place of relaxation.
