Through the ages, yogis have used animal skins to sit on during yoga and meditation. Lord Shiva and Baba Siri Chand, Guru Nanak's son, are just two of the many. In Kundalini Yoga, it is recommended not to use synthetic or plastic materials to sit on as they interfere with the energy and block your auras expansion. Yogi Bhajan spoke of synthetic yoga mats as taking up to 1/3 of the aura away from a person and suggested the use of sheepskins.
