Devinder Kaur
Devinder Kaur's journey into sound and music began at age 5 with classical piano lessons with the Royal Conservatory of Music. During her school years she studied the piano and deepened her understanding and appreciation for music, sound and its vibration. After graduation from University, Devinder started a business career which resulted in her moving across Canada from Victoria, BC, to Ottawa, Ontario, where she now lives with her husband.
When work life started getting hectic Devinder looked for ways to reduce stress and Yoga found her. After practicing for several years and feeling the benefits of Yoga and Meditation, she became a certified Hatha Yoga Teacher and then a certified Kundalini Yoga Teacher. Always captivated by sound and its ability to heal, Devinder expanded her practice and teaching to include the Gong and chanting. The moment Devinder first learned to play the Gong from Gurucharan Singh Khalsa, she was fascinated by its depth of sound and vibration. In 2007, Devinder was inspired and requested by Yoga students to create an album that captures the feeling of being in one of her Yoga or Gong Meditation classes. In December 2007, Devinder released 2 albums, her debut album "Echo" featuring the Gong and shortly after her second album "Guru", a 62 minute Guru Ram Das Mantra.
Devinder's joy is in spreading the benefits of Yoga and Meditation. Her approach to teaching is to use her knowledge, experience, and positive attitude in a safe and fun style to help people reach their individual goals and to empower themselves through Yoga. Devinder's daily Yoga and Meditation practice is in the Kundalini Yoga tradition. She is active in the Ottawa Yoga community and her creative energy is also found in her writing. She produces a free monthly Yoga Newsletter (www.pranashanti.com) and writes a Yoga/Health Tips column published by Transcontinental Media along with articles for various health and wellness magazines. She also appears as a regular guest leading Yoga classes on television programs and at Women's Conferences. Devinder is working towards becoming a Yoga Teacher Trainer and looks forward to guiding more people to the path of Yoga.
