This CD is more traditional than Mystical Traveller...it pays tribute to the Saint Baba Sohan Singh. With Dya Singh's beautiful voice, this is wonderful Gurbani music. There is also a non-traditional style of the shabd 'Tu mera pita, too he mera mata' at the end of the CD with his daughters - very nicely sung. - Pr'Desan
Shabad (literally means "word") is any Sikh religious hymn. Gur-shabad Kirtan is the meditative singing of the Guru's Word (Gur-shabad or Gur-bani) in its pristine form. The phonetic impact of the Guru's Shabad (i.e. the Guru's poetic composition) cannot be translated for it goes beyond human comprehension. Its mystical quality is preserved in the original Word-sound, which comes from the Ocean of All knowledge, the Wondrous Enlightener, the Waheguru. The listener hears the divine Naad (Cosmic octave) in the Gur-shabad and 'feels' the spiritual message of the Guru. That is the aim of this album which concludes with the musical and meditative repetition of "Sat Naam, Waheguru" ? True is the Lord's Name, "the Wondrous Enlightener".
