Description

Release Date: March 18th

Spirit Voyage is overjoyed to announce the release of Mirabai Ceiba's newest album A Hundred Blessings. Their artistry flows through this album on a wind of rich creativity, musical depth and sacred spirit. With a beautiful blend of mantras and songs, this album includes the prayers and mantras of Guru Nanak and Yogi Bhajan blended with the poetry of Rumi, Thich Nhat Hanh and Mirabai Ceiba's own gentle poems.

Angelika's harp and piano and Markus' guitars are the musical foundation supporting the intimate marriage of their voices on this album. They are joined by the masterful cello of Cameron Stone, the eclectic and irresistible percussion of Benjamin Wittman, the amazing tablas of Arjuna Alan Bruggeman, the ney and recorders of Daphna Mor and the absolute musical wizardry of Jamshied Sharifi on piano, pump organ, bass, accordion and electric guitar.

Music Video of the title track 'A Hundred Blessings:

From Spirit Voyage Records:
This album marks an artistic leap for Mirabai Ceiba. When they approached we first discussed this album, they were driven by a great wish to create an album that would capture the essence and spark of their live performances. They had also been devoted fans of producer Jamshied Sharifi's work for years and had wanted to find some way to work with him. As a record label, it was a deeply fulfilling process to be able to connect Mirabai Ceiba's hopes with the masterful artistry of Jamshied's creativity. They found an incredible studio called the Clubhouse in Rhinebeck, New York where they were able to play with an accomplished team of technicians and musicians all pulled together by Jamshied Sharifi.

In Markus' and Angelika's Words:
"A Hundred Blessings has been another incredible process of deepening our creative relationship with the sound current of Gurmukhi mantras and spiritual poetry. We pray that the music can serve those sacred words to reconnect us to the universal soul and awaken our hearts to the source of love, endless blessings and happiness which dwell within all of us. The process of recording and creating came along with Angelika’s second pregnancy. Being pregnant is like reestablishing the spiritual links to Mother Earth and the creation of life which we found to be an immense inspiration." - Markus and Angelika

Mirabai Ceiba
A gentle yet expansive spirit pervades all the music of Mirabai Ceiba. The delicate sounds of harp, piano, and guitar blend with lovingly intertwined voices amid lush celestial soundscapes. Their concerts are group celebrations for peace-joyous and loving occasions that embody the duo's profound belief in music as a universal language uniting all the world's peoples, cultures and traditions.

Mirabai Ceiba is a duo consisting of guitarist/singer Markus Sieber and singer/harpist/pianist Angelika Baumbach. They come from different parts of the world. Markus is East German. Angelika was born in Tucson, Arizona, and grew up in a small village near Mexico City, the daughter of a Mexican mother and German father.

Together, Angelika and Markus have forged engaging new style of world devotional music blending Gurmukhi mantras from the Kundalini Yoga tradition with original songs in English and Spanish that reflect a Native American influence and also draw words of wisdom from Rumi, Thich Nhat Hanh, Guru Nanak and Yogi Bhajan. Through exquisitely crafted recordings like their CD A Hundred Blessings, Mirabai Ceiba weave a beguiling tapestry from these diverse influence and sources. And that's what the music feels like: a beneficent and abundant gift from the universe. In concert, they inspire all present to chant together in a spirit of compassionate love and Oneness.

Even the name Mirabai Ceiba embodies the influences of both India and Native Latin America. Mirabai (1498-1547) was a Hindu mystical singer. Her songs express the longing of the individual self to be one with the universal self, represented by Krishna. For Angelika and Markus, the name Mirabai "is the exploration, the devotion, the inspiration in all the different aspects of divinity."

And the Ceiba is a sacred tree of Latin America which is never cut and grows very tall. "We wish our music could be like the Ceiba tree," say Markus and Angelica, "with roots deep in Mother Earth and branches extending far and wide into Father Sky."

In these challenging times, we wanted to share a meditation for prosperity and happiness and give you the music as a free download.  So add this to your cart and get a free download!!
"This mantra brings prosperity, happiness, and saves us from calamities.  It is the sound current which brings a shield and brings good luck and removes discomfort and disease.  It is the key to the doorway of self elevation."  - Yogi Bhajan

Here are instructions for practicing this meditation:

Posture: Sit in easy pose.

Focus: Eyes are closed and focused at the third-eye point.

Mantra: Har Har Har Har Gobinday - Har Har Har Har Mukanday - Har Har Har Har Udaray - Har Har Har Har Aparay - Har Har Har Har Hariang - Har Har Har Har Kariang - Har Har Har Har Nirnamay - Har Har Har Har Akamay

Mudra: Bend your elbows so that your hands are comfortable in front of you at approximately shoulder height.  Chant the mantra.  When you chant the word 'Har,' quickly open and close your hands as you pull the navel point in and up.  Repeat these actions each time you chant 'Har.'

Time: 11 minutes.

End: Inhale deeply, hold your breath.  Exhale and relax.
