More Information:This mantra calls upon, honors, the shakti, the divine feminine power. Kali and Durga are warrior dieties and known to protect one from evil and negative forces. Durga is known as one who helps people when in distress. Durga is also known for fearlessness, patience and humor. Kali/Durga are known for destroying the negative and protecting the pious, thus the mantra can be used for these purposes.
It is written that in battle Kali sprung forth from Durga's 3rd eye and battled on her behalf. Kali was early on known as one who annihilates-destroyer aspect of God, but has come also to be viewed as the Goddess of time and change.
