Laughter Yoga
Laughter Yoga is an exercise based on self-triggered laughter. It is a combination
of deep yogic breathing and humor. It was developed by Jiten Kohi and then later
expanded by Madan Kataria. Laughter brings more oxygen into the brain and body,
and anyone who belly laughs knows the abdominal benefits of a good laugh.
Laughter Yoga is based on the fact that the body cannot differentiate between created
and spontaneous laughter, creating the hormonal benefits of laughter regardless
of how it occurs. It helps to relieve depression and invigorate the physical body.
Laughter Yoga does not occur in classes but rather in clubs. You may find a Laughter
Yoga club meeting in a park for a group laugh session.
