On March 19, 2011, the full moon will be the closest (211,600 miles away) it has been to earth since 1983. It is called a super perigee moon and will appear 14% bigger and 30% brighter than the normal full moon. The next super moon is scheduled for 2029.
Like a magnet, the moon pulls on the earth and affects the tides of the ocean. Like the earth - the human body is composed of about 85 % water and so we too are affected by the energies of the moon. The full moon affects the deep ocean of our emotional self - pulling buried emotions to the surface of our consciousness. During this time, the barriers to the subconscious mind drop to release the vibrations of the past through memories, emotions, buried hurts and pain. If you are aware, this is an opportunity to bring into the light hidden aspects of yourself.
The moon also represents our deeply mysterious feminine nature – whether you are in the male or female form in this incarnation. This would be a good time for you to be in touch with your sensitivity and receptive to messages from the dream world.
Since Mars is in opposition to the full moon, this may heighten your feelings of agitation, anger and irritability. When managing emotions it is best not to attach to them – “I am angry” holds a different frequency than “ I feel anger”. Your emotions are like tourists - welcome them once they arrive and then wave good-bye to them on their way out.
Take advantage of the energies of the super full moon and practice this meditation: Stress Relief and Clearing the Emotions of the Past.

Mudra: Put your hands at the center of your chest with corresponding fingers touching. There is a space between the palms. Fingertips point up making a tee pee with your hands. Thumbs touch too. Look at the tip of your nose and breathe 4 times per minute: inhale 5 secs, hold 5 sec, exhale for 5 sec.
Continue for 11 minutes.

(Editor's Note: In addition to Catalyst Yogi's great suggestion, I also recommend the Sa Re Sa Sa mantra, also known as the Antar Naad mantra, on the full moon.)

FYI Auntie
AHA! I see the cunning way the 40-day sadhana has been scheduled around this moon! Right, I’m incorporating this meditation today.
Wish I got this on or before the 19th.
