“Sometimes we don’t need to do so much,” says Ramdesh on this unique podcast featuring her Playlist for Gentle Inspiration. “We don’t need to do one more meditation or one more this or that. Just relax into the joy, into the bliss, and allow the music to inspire us.” Sounds like a plan!

Float along with the sacred sound current, and feel the inspiration on the horizon as Ramdesh plays the first track, Song to the Pleiades” by Mirabai Ceiba from the CD Ocean. This easy-flowing track brings us back to nature, incorporating  English lyrics from a Native American verse as well as the Gurmukhi mantra Aap Sahaee Hoa.

Next you’ll hear “Beloved God (Mere Ram)” from Ras, a song recorded live by Snatam Kaur and her new band in the California redwoods (talk about a setting for inspiration!). Mere Ram means “My God,” referring to God in an intimate, personal way. Ramdesh shares her own story of how this piece carried her to a place of utter peace and bliss.  As you listen, perhaps you’ll be embraced by the awe-inspiring power of this music, too.

Aad Guray” by Nirinjan Kaur from Prem Siri opens your heart to the divine light and to the divine force that has existed in the universe from the beginning of time. Let the Gurmukhi mantra and the beautiful English words weave their magic: “From the one came the beginning; this is the age of the true guru…”

Sung at Sat Nam Fest East last year, “Every Heartbeat” from The Grace Within You: Live from Sat Nam Fest 2011 will gently inspire you with each and every breath. “Every heartbeat is God’s name to me… every breath of life is ecstasy.” The track is followed by “Blessings” (also recorded at Sat Nam Fest) by Prabhu Nam Kaur (who is a venerable sacred chant artist as well as Snatam’s mother), and you’ll also hear Snatam singing in the background. The lyrics are kind and loving:  “May the blessings of God rest upon you, may God’s peace abide with you, may God’s presence illuminate your heart, now and forever more…”

Then take a bliss-filled journey into “Joy Like Spring” from A Hundred Blessings by Mirabai Ceiba: “My joy is like spring,
so warm it makes flowers bloom
in my hands.” The beautiful lyrics are from a poem by Thich Nhat Hanh.

Last but certainly not least is the gorgeous “With You” from I Am Thine by Jai-Jagdeesh. Fill your heart with Jai-Jagdeesh’s magical, musical sunshine and love.
