Meditation for Removing Life Blocks

“Vibrate the cosmos, and the cosmos shall clear the path.” – Yogi Bhajan

As I write this, on the morning after yet another extreme weather event, it is clear that the planet is going through a time of tremendous change and upheaval. We are all personally impacted or know someone who is being affected by the hurricanes, fires, floods, and earthquakes of the last few weeks.

Clearly, this is a wake up call that cannot be ignored. You can’t “spin” your way out of reality when it’s in your face. The initial impulse is to freak out and deny what is happening, but ultimately, the only effective response is to dig deep, gather your courage, and face the situation with every ounce of grace you have.

To that end, I offer you a mantra and meditation that couldn’t be more timely for removing whatever obstacles you or your loved ones may be facing. Here’s what Yogi Bhajan had to say about it:

“Now suppose [there is] something you want to move, and it’s not moving. There is a block and it’s not movable. Then chant this mantra. It’s a lever. It is the biggest lever available to you as a mantra.”

Aad Such Jugaad Such Hai Bhai Such Nanak Hosee Bhai Such translates to, “True in the beginning, true throughout the ages, true even now, Nanak, truth shall ever be.”

It’s called Meditation for Removing Life Blocks (with instructions for Mandhavani Kriya), the second track on my latest album Removing Obstacles.

I love to chant this when I’m stuck in traffic or feeling blocked in some way. It really helps shift the energy of a situation and get things moving again — a very important tool for your yogic toolbox to help you navigate life, especially in these precarious times.

This mantra and meditation will help you gather your strength through your naval center and focus it out through your third eye — cultivating your vision and intuition so you can see the way forward. By aligning yourself with the truth of the ages that is your divine essence, you become unstoppable, and nothing can stand in your way.

“Let each sound resonate through your whole being like a pebble across the calmest of ponds.” – Gurucharan Singh

The purpose of this meditation is to remove blocks, and the means by which it achieves this is both subtle and profound. By combining the power of mudra, sacred sound current, and deep listening, it brings us to a place of heightened awareness where obstacles dissolve. By connecting us with the divine essence of a situation, we can allow the miracle, that already exists, to unfold.

The mudra physically stimulates the heart meridian and the mantra connects us with the deepest longing of our heart. Every soul longs to merge with the infinite, and by chanting this mantra, we can connect with the most timeless aspect of our being. Grounded in our heart center, our perception is expanded, so we can see the path before us unfold with clarity.

Merging with the sacred sound current, we experience Shunia, or deep listening, which brings a state of profound bliss. From this place of expanded awareness, nothing can stand in the way. The mantra comes from the great yogic master Baba Siri Chand, son of the mystic sage Guru Nanak and Mata Sulakhani.

Whether you’re facing a storm of the heart or in the physical world, this mantra and meditation will help open a path to calmer waters and clearer skies.

Posture: Come sitting in easy pose with the legs crossed and a straight spine.

Mudra: Bring the hands in front of the throat, forearms paraIlel to the ground. Interlock the thumbs with the right hand on top. The palms are flat, facing down, and the fingers are straight. The left thumb is pointed back toward the throat and the right thumb is in the center of the left palm. Lock the right thumb in place and apply firm pressure on the left palm with the fingers of the right hand resting on the back of the left hand. Hold the position at the level of the throat about six inches in front of the body.

Eyes: Eyes are closed.

Inhale deeply and chant the mantra while exhaling the breath. Inhale and continue for up to 31 minutes.

Note: Be sure to keep the arms parallel to the ground. The key to this meditation is locking the right thumb and keeping firm pressure on the center of the left hand.
