Mayan Calendar Predictions for 2012 from a Yogi's Perspective
There have been plenty of doomsday predictions surrounding the mysterious Mayan Calendar. Hollywood jumped on board with a 2012 movie linking Mayan calendar prophecies with a catastrophic end of the world. The Mayans tells us that the world will not end – it will be transformed.
The Mayan Calendar is not really a calendar per se but a measurement of the evolution of consciousness. It is depicted as a pyramid that has been divided into 9 steps, levels or waves. Each wave of consciousness contains a focus – what we are learning so that we can progress to the next wave of consciousness.
Here are the 9 Waves of Consciousness with start date and purpose:
1. Cellular - started 16 Billion Year Ago – Action/Reaction
2. Mammalian – 820 millions years ago – Stimulus/Response
3. Familial – started 41 million years ago – Individual
4. Tribal – 2 million year ago – the Mind
5. Cultural – 102,000 years ago – Reason
6. National – 3,115 BC – Law
7. Planetary – 1755 AD – Power
8. Galactic – Jan 4, 1999 – Ethics
9. Unity – March 9, 2011 – Co-creation
In addition each wave is then divided into 13 equal segments that are called days and nights . 1st day, 1st night, 2nd day, 2nd night etc. These days and night describe how quickly change comes to us. For instance, in the time of the Cellular Wave, change would happen at a rate of every 1.2 billion years. The rate of change of the days and nights increase with each progression of new waves of consciousness.
If we go back to the Planetary Wave from 1755 – 1999, dramatic changes in consciousness happened every 20 years. During this wave of consciousness we were learning about power – power was collected and held by few people in the world. Two important markers during this cycle were the beginning of the Industrial Revolution and when corporations were granted by the law the rights of an individual person and therefore not held accountable for their actions.
Since 1999, a great change in consciousness has happened every year. Think of the person you were in 1999? Who were your friends? What were you doing? You are probably a radically different person today. The Galactic Wave (Jan, 4 1999 – March 9, 2011) is about Ethics - everything coming into integrity. Anything not in integrity must go. We are seeing this expressed as citizens of the Middle East tear down corrupt governments. All the secrets and lies are coming to the surface with Wikileaks. Religions, corporations, and public figures are being exposed wherever there is hypocrisy. This cycle is also about the advancement of technology which has played a major role in disseminating information around the globe.
This is why it feels as though time is speeding up. It is actually creation and consciousness that is speeding up with more happening, more being born, in less time.
Starting in March 9th, 2011 we begin the Unity Wave of Consciousness where great change happens every 18 days! Hold on to your turbans – it’s going to be a fast ride. This is the time when we transcend duality – us and them, good and bad into Unity Consciousness. We are moving from living from our mind and ego and dropping into our hearts to remember who we are and why we are on this planet.
There are some differences in opinion when this new Golden Age officially begins – some say October 28, 2011 or November 11, 2011 or December 21, 2012. At the end of the day, it doesn’t really matter. I think we can all agree that a great shift is upon us and it is here NOW.

Beware the ides of March!
Personally, I think the day is a off a week or so but the 9th is close enough. Everyone be ready from March 9th to March 18th as events could happen to cause us to be united as one, hopefully not like on 9/11 or some other tragedy.

I applaud the positive intent of this article. I do have ever wish the author would define the word consciousness. As consciousness is the pivotal concept in this article, it should be defined in the authors own words, clearly, so the audience can understand to conceptual background from which the author derives their perspective.
Secondly I find articles with specific dates rarely stand up to history and have an actual negative side effect contrary to the authors intent. Rather than fixate on a date, how about a broader concept of what we are doing here.
Let’s refine our understanding of what consciousness actually is. From there we may discover that consciousness, the ultimate ground of being (in my understanding) is not evolving in the sense of coming from nothing to something, from darkness to light, from un-evolved to evolved. Consciousness is the Alpha and the Omega, the root of all physical creating, and the very nature of existence. How can something that is all there is, all that ever will be, need evolving? Consciousness doesn’t evolve but continuously expresses itself in creation. In my opinion this is a key archetypal understanding to allow a very different perspective about what is actually going on here.
Last, why do we praise these ancient cultures so much? If I am not mistaken, the Mayans sacrificed living human beings. They may have been good at math but that doesn’t make them any more intelligent or wise than you and me. In fact, I doubt you or I would kill another person as an offering to nature or the gods.
Yes this is my perspective and with which I hope to open a constructive dialog.
So what is suppose to happen on 3/9/11? Will someone please explain to me if they know what this means.

Ah, this article resonates so much with me. The changes I perceive, just on a local level, let alone the world stage, definitely continue to accelerate. My head is starting to spin, necessitating self-evolution lest I get swept away.

There is nothing specific that is predicted to happen on March 9th or any day after. The article is explaining that the rate of change is speeding up. I think anyone connected to the world in any way can see that is already happening on a fairly dramatic scale.
Jeremy – the author is not writing a book about consciousness — it’s a blog article and blog articles need to assume some level of shared understanding on topics typical to the audience. There are hosts of book on consciousness written. I suggest you read some and choose the definition that you resonate with.

In regards to what Jeremy said above, I agree with everything you said. However, I think these dates are very significant and pose a great understanding of everything that is happening around us.
In terms of the Mayan’s sacrificing human’s, we don’t actually know this for a fact. This is all based off of what Governmental (key word) Scientists have stated. For all we know, it could be something completely different than what our interpretation of it is.

Unity Consciousness, yes! I loved this article. As one who has been experiencing major shifts in my own consciousness the past year, as well as my husbands, I can say from first had experience that consciousness is speeding up and changing all around us. It is interesting to me how it seems that the more conscious we become on an individual level the more we bump into unconsciousness! It takes a great amount of courage to continue on, pushing the envelope of our individual consciousness and reading articles like this give me the courage to continue doing so, to be a bigger part of the whole evolution, to make up for the ones that have chosen to ignore the taps on the shoulder that they have been given time and time again. To not fear in times like these will take the greatest courage of all and to see each event unfolding as a Divine act will take insight and a spiritually mature soul. Blessings and Namaste.
