I'm often asked for mantras to help with schoolwork, weight loss, or finding love, but mantra isn't made up of magic bullets. We can't wave a wand, say "Ek ong kar sat nam siri waheguru," and be lifted out of our circumstances magically and suddenly (at least, not most of the time). Mantras are vibrations that attune our energy fields to specific frequencies. Continued and sustained attention as well as intention, shifts us to a space where the energy of the mantra brings forth that which operates at that frequency. Chant a mantra for prosperity and your energetic field and consciously creating mind shift to a frequency of abundance, allowing the sound current within the mantra to attract prosperity. This is how mantras work. They are not a dogma (chant this, get that), but rather a dharma (meditate upon this sound current and vibrate the frequency of what you seek, thus drawing it to you).
There are circumstances, such as in the pauris of Japji, where Yogi Bhajan in his wisdom deciphered the frequency of each pauri, or stanza, into a succinct description of the effect of using it as a mantra.
The 19th Pauri of Japji, Asankh Naav, is the pauri to draw in wisdom, knowledge, and intuition. It is a mantra which vibrates at the frequency of Divine Knowledge.
We could all stand to be a little wiser and know a little more, and certainly if you were looking for a mantra to help you with exams, I could suggest Asankh Naav. If you feel like your mental capacity could be operating a little faster, then try this mantra. If you are looking for the inspiration for your next big idea, you could have Asankh Naav playing in your office space. It feels great to have the sound current of inspiration feel the space around you...try it!

I am really happy to read about this one. I like the devotional aspect of mantra practice, and sometimes have trouble with the “this mantra will bring such and such” kind of language. Prescriptive thinking is an easy trap for me to fall into, so thanks for reminding me that it’s a dharma practice.
Thank you so much!
This article (as the others) are an inspiration.
I love Mantras and I enjoy to know them better.
So… my gratitude to you all in Spirit Voyage for sharing all this information.
