Kickstarter is an amazing invention! It used to be that artists wer dependent on a private benefactor, or even a government, to fund their work. This is how Stravinsky, Vermeer, and Da Vinci were able to spend their lives creating art.

Kickstarter revamped this idea for the Age of Aquarius. Patrons of the arts throughout history have dictated what kind of art, music, and dance were created. Now, I can decide what kind of project I want to do and know that the people who are drawn to it will stand behind it. If only Michaelangelo had had the internet to solicit funds from people all over the world, we may have seen what his heart really wanted to sculpt!

It’s impossible to speculate of course... we live in a different era. Thank goodness!

Sat Darshan and I have been planning to join forces on an album since the beginning of the year. After a very eventful weekend of playing music together in New York City, I was getting off the subway when the idea popped into my head!

At the time I had an entire life in Los Angeles, CA (I was just visiting NYC), yet I emailed Sat Darshan immediately and wrote: “We we should make an album together.”

Between the time this happened and the time I moved the entire contents of my apartment to storage and showed up in NYC, about a month passed. Sat Darshan and I spent this time sending each other sample files of potential vocals and instrumentations for various songs we might include on the CD.

Now that I am here the real fun has begun! We are currently in “production mode”, which means we still have a few musicians to schedule and record. Our next step will be to mix and master the album, before it goes to the manufacturer to be in your hands by Summer Solstice.

There will be 7 tracks on the album, including Sat Darshan’s “Gobinday” (link to video), and my version of “Bliss” (link to video).

We have decided to use Kickstarter to help fund our project, because like the artists of old, we can only do so much on our own.

We only have 30 days to raise the $4,000 necessary, or we don’t get anything. That’s right, that’s how Kickstarter works... it’s all or nothing!

We are so fortunate to be be immersed in such a loving community of conscious people. We have no doubt that our goal will be reached. Thank you in advance!
