Japa – My One True Love, A Poem

Japa – My One True Love

for all my Kundalini friends – because you understand …..

In the first nudge of  sunrise,
I sit in the screened in porch
on a sheepskin
and close my eyes:
first
finding focus –
third eye :
bulls eye
ajna
indigo
five pointed star
seat of intuition
hawk
blessed pituitary…
I fall into that space
eyes rolled back
spine climbing toward
the heavens,
breath is long,
sweet comfort
abandon
link
to the golden sphere
high in the sky
to siddhis
yogis
gurus:
ah sweet surrender.
Deep in my belly
sounds form,
movement
subtle
barely audible
soft
and
shy
like a young lover
in awe
timid
nervous
tenuous…
In the garden,
birds have begun
morning rituals:
calling
trilling
preening
pecking
searching
splashing
I listen
with my skin
through my pores
and begin to savor
the joy
of mouthing
unfamiliar syllables
long a’s
and sibilant h’s
odd combinations
foreign
and yet so familiar
like a long lost language
I muttered long
before this life :
my tongue lost in roundness
tip lifting to find
the rough pallet
of  transforming colors
radiant waves
of ancient loved sounds:
bowing humbly
to the naad
pure vibration
“aad aneel anaad anaahat
jug jug ayko vays”
lifting mind
heart
soul
to the primal one,
pure light
throughout ages
one and the same…
Mouth becomes heart
and
mind soul,
a chain
grows
link upon golden link
round my throat
radiant
as the summer sun,
light as the breeze
that billows the shades:
they unfurl
lifting
me toward Amritsar –
floating over
the steeples of the Golden Temple
in pure delight
and ecstasy
sheer energy
illumined
radiant
light
timeless
without beginning
or end
bliss….
“aadays tisai aadays”
I bow
I fly
I am, I am
Later
much,
in the twilight
between sun and moon,
a white dove
opens its wings
from right between
my eyes.
