Sacred chant artist Harnam Singh sits down with Ramdesh (who just happens to be his fiancée!) to discuss his second solo album, A Fearless Heart, and explore the roots of his artistic and devotional development. As the couple recalls their joyful journey, they are  joined by Ram Dass Khalsa, who produced this album.

Harnam reveals how he began as a painter, and then discovered that music—and particularly sacred chant music—spoke to his soul as an artist and as a human being. Ramdesh and he met at a sacred chant concert, and they discuss how sacred chant can be used to enhance and deepen relationships. “Our ability to love ourselves deeply and in a spiritual way opens the possibility for intimacy in our relationships and creates the vibration to attract a partner to bring out the very best in you,” Harnam observes.

This profoundly rich album reflects the blooming and blossoming of Harnam and Ramdesh’s love. “The more our devotion for the Infinite has increased, the more we can have a conscious partnership,” Ramdesh adds.

Ram Dass Khalsa, himself a remarkable sacred chant artist and producer (The Alchemist’s Prayer et al.), recalls the joy, laughter, and love that went into the making of A Fearless Heart (his wife, Lakshmi Light, provides background vocals on the Ek Ong Kar track). “This project was one of the most straightforward I’ve ever worked on,” he says. “Harnam’s positivity and authenticity are incredibly inspiring.” Both artists are looking forward to sharing music together again at the upcoming Sat Nam Fest in Joshua Tree, CA in April.

From the album A Fearless Heart, listen to the uplifting “Love Serve Remember,” inspired by the extraordinary yet simple message offered by Yogananda, followed by the light-filled “Shine,” the rich, heart-centered  “Guru Ram Das” (with beautiful background pedal steel guitar played by Siri Kartar Singh), the amazingly powerful “miracle mantra” “Ek Ong Kar Sat Gur Prasad,” the compelling English mantra “Bountiful Beautiful Blissful,” and-- from the Live from Spirit Fest Album--“I See No Stranger.” Between tracks the artists discuss the origins and inspiration for each piece.

Authenticity is central to Harnam’s work and life, and in his soulful, heartfelt voice and playing you will hear and be surrounded by his love for the Infinite, for music  (and of course, for Ramdesh!).
