Balancing Your Chakras: Life Hacks for Health and Alignment

Kundalini Yoga teaches you how to allow your energy to flow through your chakras so you can experience elevated consciousness. Here are a few quick tips for balancing your chakras to promote this flow of energy:

First Chakra, the Root Chakra (Muladhara): Security and survival

Mental and physical illnesses: Fear, financial problems, security worries, adrenal gland dysfunction, obesity, constipation, and skeletal system ailments.

Life hacks: Getting grounded will help give you courage, stability, and vitality. Sit in the grass and put your feet in the dirt. Walk barefoot! Eat root vegetables like beets and carrots.

Yoga exercises: Crow pose, chair pose, body drops, frog pose, front stretches, lying on stomach, root lock.

 

Second Chakra, the Sacral Chakra (Svadisthana): Creativity

Mental and physical illnesses: Lack of motivation, isolation, frustration, Blocked creativity, lower back pain, bladder challenges, and yeast infections.

Life hacks: Get in tune with your creative side. Take an art class, write poetry, or cook something new. Eat fats, oils and nuts.

Yoga exercises: Frog pose, cobra pose, butterfly, Sat Kriya, cat-cow, and pelvic lifts.

 

Third Chakra, the Solar Plexus (Manipura): Action and balance

Mental and physical illnesses: Lack of self-confidence, depression, confusion, stomachaches, indigestion, colon, kidney, and intestinally diseases.

Life hacks: Follow your intuition and start making decisions with your gut. Make sure to take the time to focus on yourself and find out what makes you happy. Eat whole grains and soluble fibers such as apples, flaxseed, lentils, blueberries, and celery.

Yoga Exercises: Stretch pose, Sat Kriya, bow pose, diaphragm lock, breath of fire.

 

Fourth Chakra, the Heart Chakra (Anahata): Love and compassion

Life hacks: Get your heart pumping, go out for a hike, dance, and do Bhangra. Do some physical exercise and then sit and feel your heart slow as you breath. Eat leafy greens.

Yoga Exercises: Ego eradicator, baby pose, Yoga Mudra, all pranayamaall arm exercises.

 

Fifth Chakra, the Throat Chakra (Vishuddha): Projective power of the word

Mental and physical illnesses: Poor listening skills, settling on others opinions instead of you own, shyness or arrogance leading to anxiety, throat infections, colds, and thyroid disorders.

Life hacks: Chant! Sing and use you voice. Express yourself verbally and breathe deeply. Feel the air travel though your throat and fill your lungs. Drink tea and eat liquids such as soups and sauces.

Yoga Exercises: All chanting, cobra pose, plow pose, shoulder stand, cat-cow, neck lock.

 

Sixth Chakra, the Third Eye (Ajna): Wisdom and identity

Mental and physical illnesses: Inability to make decisions, lack of assertiveness, mental disorders, fatigue, and lack of sleep.2350-180x180

Life hacks: Listen to Himalayan Chakra Healing music. Learn to trust your impulse decisions. Focus on your third eye. Visualize and exercise being open to new circumstances regardless of if you judge it as being good or bad. Eat berries, dark chocolate and spices.

Yoga exercises: Focus on the third eye, Kirtan Kriya, archer pose, whistle breaths, and any yoga poses that include resting your forehead on the floor.

 

Seventh Chakra, the Crown Chakra (Sahasrara): Humility and vastness

Mental and physical illnesses: Depression, anger, loneliness, lack of focus, frequent migraines, and headaches.

Life hacks: Connect with yourself and follow your thoughts. Contemplate your dreams and imagination and log them in a journal. Cleanse by eating detoxifying foods.

Yoga exercises: Ego eradicator, Sat Kriya, concentrating on the tip of the nose, and any meditations.

 

Eighth Chakra, the Aura Chakra

In Kundalini yoga the aura is considered the eighth chakra. The aura is the electromagnetic field surrounding the physical body.

Yoga exercises: Triangle pose, ego eradicator, archer pose, all arm exercises and all meditation.
