I have participated in each of the previous 40 Day Global Sadhanas led by Spirit Voyage. All of them have been wonderful experiences, and I've learned quite a few things about myself. I always look forward to the time when Ramdesh announces each new sadhana, and the current Be in Flow with Your Highest Wisdom has me more excited than ever. Judging by the number of people signed up, it seems like a lot of other people are excited too. If you haven't yet signed up to participate, or are feeling unsure about participating, here are just a few reasons to get excited!
Spending 40 days being led by Snatam Kaur during the Burn Inner Anger sadhana was amazing! She was a soothing, grounding virtual presence during a challenging practice. Another 40 days with her, and her beautiful version of “Wahe Guru Wahe Jio,” is sure to be moving and deep. And Gurmukh! Listening to her talk, the profound depth of her experience with Kundalini yoga is almost palpable. Did you see the video of her class at Golden Bridge NYC? Wow! I am thrilled to be spending 40 days in shared meditation with her!
I don't have to stand on one leg.
I loved the Bound Lotus sadhana, and found the Radiant Body kriya and meditation to be quite powerful. On the other hand, sometimes it's nice to experience the gentler side of Kundalini yoga. I am so looking forward to spending these 40 days connect with my breath during Sitali pranayama, and deepening my personal understanding of the mantra “Wahe Guru Wahe Jio.”
Sharing meditation with 3500 other people.
Some of the 3500 participants may have a local community to practice with. Others, like me, rely on the Spirit Voyage facebook page and discussion board to connect with each other. Reading about the experiences of others, and seeing the number of participants climbing higher each day, reminds me that I am part of a global community of yogis. When I sit down for my meditation, I am sitting and chanting with countless other people. Together our energy is amplified and our affect on the world around us is greater.
Yogi Bhajan taught that the Aquarian Age would begin on November 11, 2011. He said that in the Aquarian Age, we must be. It will no longer be enough to learn for the sake of learning. Instead we have to develop wisdom and intuition, and let go of the idea that we are isolated beings. There are many people who have spent months and years doing meditations and sadhanas in preparation for this important time. The Be in Flow sadhana is a wonderful time for those who are new to Kundalini yoga, or any yoga, to join their energy with 3400 other beings and get ready for the Aquarian Age.
Amazing things always happen!
Setting aside time each day to devote to spiritual practice is almost guaranteed to change our lives. I have read so many of the stories people have shared on the discussion boards, and have shared a few of my own about the results I've seen from sadhana practice. Some of the changes have been profound, like resolving old relationship traumas. Some of them have been more everyday, like completing a sadhana practice I didn't enjoy. Profound, or everyday, I am always amazed at the end of the 40 day period. So whether you're clearing out old karma, finding a little bliss each day, or living up to a commitment to yourself, be on the lookout. When you do a 40 day sadhana, you never know what's going to happen!

I have joined you all with the global meditation. My mom is passing unexpectedly and My sister and I need help. The pain she is enduring is very tough, and we need help in preparing her for her journey. We don’t know what to tell her. The sensation that are running through my body are overwhelming. My sister and I did yoga together sat. night and sunday morning, and prayers and meditation is really help yesterday.
Today. is going to be a lot, to be making the decision to let her go. Which mantra will help my mom? Which Kundalini exercise is good for me and Judy. I could sure use some advice.
Thank You Very Much!
Debbie and Judy, and Mommie Delores W. Brown
Sat nam Debbie,
First, my heart goes out to you and your sister during this difficult time. The best resource I know of about death is this book, Dying Into Life. http://www.spiritvoyage.com/yoga/Dying-Into-Life—The-Yoga-of-Death,-Loss-and-Transformation/Guru-Terath-Kaur-Khalsa-PhD/BKS-009154.aspx It is a really amazing resource, with meditations, mantras, recipes and teachings about death and what to do with grief. I have used it during difficult times in my life, and it helped. There are a few mantras that come to mind “Sa Ta Na Ma”, “Guru Ram Das”, “Ra Ma Da Sa” and even “Kirtan Sohila”, but honestly whichever mantra brings her peace is the right one. Even Long Time Sun, if it brings peace to her heart, is a good mantra. There is no right answer. You might ask Yogi Bhajan to help assist with your mother’s transition, he used to say that after he passed on, he would help his students and their families with their crossings. For you and Judy, keep doing the global sadhana. If you become overwhelmed with sorrow, place your hands on your heart and chant “Guru Guru Waheguru Guru Ram Das Guru”…Snatam Kaur’s version on Connect and Heal or Shanti is the version that I have used in past when grief threatened to overwhelm me. http://www.spiritvoyage.com/yoga/Meditations-for-Transformation–Connect-and-Heal/Snatam-Kaur/CDS-001912.aspx When she passes over, chant “Akal” for her. This mantra, which means “undying”, will help to move her soul through the electromagnetic field of the earth. Chanting it is also very calming. Chant it at least three times and as long as you’d like. You can continue chanting for her as a meditation…even a 40 day meditation of a few minutes a day chanting might help you all.
For more tips on overcoming grief with Kundalini yoga, read my article here: http://www.spiritvoyage.com/blog/index.php/overcoming-grief-with-kundalini-yoga/
There is also my book on living with a whole heart, which might help you in the coming times: http://www.spiritvoyage.com/yoga/Kundalini-Transformation-Kit–Yoga-&-Mantras-for-Whole-Heart/Ramdesh-Kaur,-Karan-Khalsa/BKS-009430.aspx
I reach out to you all and give you giant hugs. Your mother is an undying being of light who is going home to her source. She will shine for you in the sun and the stars, lighting up your path. May you and your sister find peace in this difficult time and comfort in the love you all share.
Please let me know when your mother has made her transition and I will ask our community to chant Akal for her as well, honoring her life and helping her transition.
Blessings to you,
Ramdesh
Thank You Ever So Much!
Your kind words and help, is truly a blessing to me and my family. I have been playing
Long Time Sun for her and me and I sing it to myself often.
Just reading your words have help me to feel some peace.
We are bringing her home tomorrow. I am playing on having someone read the Kirtan Sohila at her service.
I am thankful to be part of the Kundalini Community, and had a wonderful saturday at Spirit Fest. I was meant to be there for a reason.
Thanks Again For Your Kindness!
I will connect you when mom makes her transition,
Debbie
Dear Ramdesh Kaur,
We brought her home last Thursday with the assistance of Heartland Hospice.
She passed away at 6:10 am, Thursday Oct. 21, 2011. Our journey/travel was quite
a trip. I can say most of it was awful. But we had amazing help come our way. First of all, I’d like to give thanks to you for contacting me back. I have never done anything like that before. But some extremely powerful energy helped me ask for help. The resources you suggested were AMAZING! I purchased them all. I did have my music w/ me – Snatnam Kaur and my I Tunes collection. We were able to have chanting, singing, angel meditations and gonging and lots of music that was dear to my Mother and Father (old time country gospel music). All the music and words surrounded us and was helpful and healing to us all. Mom was in her living room for one week surrounded by angels, flowers, candles and special lighting. We used essential oil and flower essences. We had a lot of resources nightly in her house. One day I was praying for help and the teachings w/ Yogi Bhajan came. Wow! We knew something special was happening and our prayers had been heard.
We knew we were in God’s hands, when our tech’s name was Angel, one of her nurses names was Sata, and the funeral home director introduced himself as the “preplanning Guru”. And the two social workers, one a 1st Degree Reiki student and the other a second degree student. The Chaplain was a Reiki Master and sees and talks to angels.
She was able to communicate for Mom when she couldn’t talk.
Thursday morning after she passed away, we chanted Akal, made more CD’s- one was 1 hr of “Long Time Sun” by Snatnam Kaur. We made rosemary water to bath her and anointed her w/ Myrrh and Frankincense.
Thanks Again Forever,
Debbie Smith, Delores Brown & Judy Brown
Satnam
Sat nam! What an incredible journey onwards, Debbie. Your mother was a blessed woman to have such an honored ending to her life. I am sure that because you asked him to, Yogi Bhajan met your mother’s soul and helped her transition. Perhaps you would like to write your story of how these teaching came to you and aided her transition for sharing onto our blog. In my heart, I can feel your mother at peace. Many blessings and I’m so glad I could help, Ramdesh
