5 Kundalini Mantras for Women

Today is International Women's Day, and in the spirit and honor of women everywhere, here are five Kundalini mantras that honor women, uplift women, and support women on their spiritual path. Mantras are not "just" for women.  Men and women can both enjoy the powerful energy they bring, and everyone has a woman in their life to sing to (even if its only the Divine Mother!)

These 5 Kundalini yoga mantras are wonderful choices for all women!

1.) Adi Shakti

Adi Shakti, Adi Shakti, Adi Shakti, Namo Namo
Sarab Shakti, Sarab Shakti, Sarab Shakti, Namo Namo

Pritham Bhagvati, Pritham Bhagvati, Pritham Bhagvati, Namo Namo

Kundalini Mata Shakti, Mata Shakti, Namo Namo

The Adi Shakti Mantra tunes one into the frequency of the Divine Mother, and to the primal protective, generating energy. It is said that chanting it eliminates fears and fulfills desires.  This mantra gets women in touch with their own power.  They become Shakti, the energy of the Universe.  It is powerful, uplifting and inspiring to sing along to and is used in many Kundalini yoga kriya, meditation and celestial communications.

2.) Bhand Jammee-ai

Bhand jammee-ai bhand nimmee-ai bhand mangan veeaa-hu.

Bhandahu hovai dostee bhandahu chalai raahu.

Bhand moo-aa bhand bhali-ai bhand hovai bandhan.

So kio mandaa aakhi-ai jit jameh raajaan.
Bhandahu hi bhand oopjai bhandai baajh na ko-ay.

Naanak bhandai baahraa ayko sachaa so-ay.

Jit mukh sadaa salaahee-ai bhaagaa ratee chaar.

Naanak tay mukh oojalay tit sachai darbaar.

This shabad, or song, written by Guru Nanak, blesses and honors all women.  Women can empower themselves and the women around them by pulling this energy into their vibration through chanting or having the mantra playing ambiently in their environment.

3.) Ma

Maaaaaa

This mantra is repeated over and over to connect with the essence of the universal mother.  Yogi Bhajan tracked the yogi that knew this meditation for three months in the Himalayas and then waited in Gurupranam (a yoga posture) outside his home for two days to get it.  This doesn't just honor mothers, but rather invokes the mother of our soul, the Universal mother.

4. ) Say Saraswati

Say Saraswati Sar-rang - Hay Bhagwatee Har-rang – La Lakhshmee Nar-ring – Karn Kar-an Kar-ring – Dev Maa-haa Dev Deva – Sarab Shakti Seva – Tarn Taran Tar-ring – Neel Narayan Nar-ring – Guru Dev Dev-ing – Sarab Lok Sev-ing

Goddess of Love - Happiness Shakti Power - Victory Goddess of Wealth - Prosperity God’s Three Aspects - Fulfillment Nurtures the Experience of Totality The God of Gods, the Infinite One Under and Over, God is love, All Creation, serving

This mantra praises three different aspects of the Goddess, Love, Wealth and Power.  This is actually a poem written by Yogi Bhajan  in Sanskrit and in English to bring happiness, victory, prosperity and fulfillment.

This bani or prayer, So Purkh, creates a sacred space in which grace prevails so as to allow the greatness of the sould to come forth. It was written by Guru Ram Das, whose vibration exists holding a state of grace and love that heals all realms of the heart and being. Yogi Bhajan taught that if a woman recites this bani eleven times a day for any man, it has the power to make him a saint and dissolve any negativity between them. He would often give this as a sadhana to women for the men in their lives. So Purkh is a part of Rehiraas, the evening prayer of the sikhs.

    Sat nam,

I need a mantra for women to chant for the females in their lives: their daughters, their mothers, their sisters, that they may be healed and awaken to their truth. Can So Purkh be chanted by women for their female loved ones, the same as for the men…?

    Thank you,
    Sarab
