When Gurunam Singh graduated high school he was given a guitar and began composing simple songs. At 22 he found Yogi Bhajan and Sikh Dharma. He sang and played along with others and over time began leading chants in the early morning hours, before the rising of the sun. He spent lots of time in the solitude of his own home, and in the Sikh temple late at night, chanting to God and writing devotional songs. Gurunam's influences range from gospel, folk and country to classical Indian raag and traditional Sikh hymns to many of the current artists who sing devotional Hindu chants. He occasionally studied with some great ragi's such as Bhai Avtar Singh, from India, and Dya Singh from Australia. But his music is very simple. Anyone can chant along.

I bought this CD yesterday, and have been listening to it again and again, particularly the lovely rendition of Mul Mantra. I cannot believe it! The mantra is SOOO powerful that my circumstances have totally changed from one day to the other. This little tool has helped me to find my true self in an unexpected and beatiful way!

One of my favorite albums. Can feel the depth and devotion. I especially like Gurunam's Dharti Hai, Aad Guray Nameh (favorite version of this mantra), Silent Moon Meditation, Jai Tegung and Eyes of the Angels. Highly recommend.
I have enjoyed this most every morning for the last 77 days since I first purchased it. Wonderful soul, excellent work on his other CD's as well. Yoga class was inspired by Kirtan chanting to Aad Guray. Can't wait for a recording of the morning prayer.

There are some guitar licks on Gobinday Mukunday that remind me of the Grateful Dead's song The Wheel. One interpretation of the meaning of the original poem sounds very much like the meaning that I get out of The Wheel.

I am wondering about the second half of his Jai Te Gang recording. The full mantra as written in Mantrapedia stops at "Jai jai jag kaaran srist ubaaran mam pratipaaran jai tegang". What is the next part of the recording? Where is it from? If doing Jai Te Gang as a meditation, is the first part enough? Thanks

Gurunam's version of Jai Te Gung is SO POWERFUL! When I play it, visions just start arising of difficulties that have arisen in my life and how I just keep going. No matter what, keep going. When I listen, I feel such strength and courage inside. Then I read the translation of the mantra -- how appropriate because that's exactly what I felt.

Absolutely beautiful and peaceful. My 2-year old was playing with his cars and heard this music. He dropped everything and ran over to listen. He stood quietly rocking through the whole song. Then when it was over, he ran back to play. Wonderful.

Sat Nam...I recently experienced his valuable gifts and am not sure how to articulate as this is a new journey for me in Kundalini and mantras. He quoted, Miracles on earth are single mothers with 3 children at this particular session and I could see the aura fill the room. I am a single, mother with 3 sons, and I know now I am a miracle. I saw Gurunam Singh play Jai Te Gong live at Summer Solstice and was blown away. I've seen all sorts of heavy metal bands over the years and his performance of that Shabad made me feel what Bir Ras is all about, I felt like he should be playing live in front of 30,000 warriors ready to go to battle...

I was real impressed with the Journey Home. I have a number of Yoga mixes I practise to and I've added Gurunam's songs to the 'inspirational' part of these. Also was equally impressed with the overall production. Spirit Vovage, your musical skills are tops!
Gurunam is on his way back from India to record his next album. Keep an eye out for it June 2010. We just bought a recorder for him to record sounds of Punjab that will be interspersed through the album. Album will be produced by Hans Christian.

Pavan Pavan is my favorite. I use this CD while I drive my carpools!
This album was my first real introduction to Kundalini Yoga music. It drew me in, and I have not been able to stop listening to it, and now looking further into the practice of Kundalini Yoga.
This album is awesome all around. The Pavan Pavan is my favorite that is on CD. The Dukh par har is really upbeat and fun. It has yogi bhajan's voice on it which makes it special in a whole different way. The Ong Namo is fresh.
